Abstract

In this paper we focus on the question of application of competence models within educational processes. Our work is oriented, in particular, on university education in the professional area of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). We highlight a new ICT-competences framework recently introduced by CEN (Comiteé Européen de Normalisation - European Committee for Standardization) (CEN, 2016; CEN ICT-Profiles, 2014; CEN e-CF 3.0, 2014), which aims at uniformisation and enhancements of the professional activities descriptors in the domain of ICT. As this framework is becoming a ‘de facto’ standard, we study its application in education as a “competences survey tool” to support ICT-curricula. Our research suggests that the CEN-framework forms an added-value for education, but further studies and enhancements of the proposed approach are needed in order to make it fully applicable in this area.
