COMMUNICATION AND COGNITION IN A
POST-GENETIC-CULTURAL HUMAN PERSPECTIVE:
THE PGC-APPROACH.

F. Vandamme

These new dimensions concerning Communication and Cognition are related to the results concerning AI: Artificial Intelligence for Communication and Cognition and on the awareness of the limited impact of the genetic determination or the limited genetic predispositions of the genetic DNA as well as of the cultural "DNA" and predispositions and vice versa on the processes of Communication and Cognition.
In view of the fast changing environments and the enormous impact of Artificial Intelligence and robots, we need to be very well aware of the possibilities of moulding, changing, controlling, steering of the human beings, the social entities as well as the non-human beings. Therefore the dimensions of the cognitive and communicative processes have to receive high priority of study including the challenges how to discover the manipulations, interferences and strategies for self-defence of individual entities as well as social entities: including democracies… in the manipulation of these cognitive and communicative processes.

ACCESS TO INFORMATION RESOURCES IN DIGITAL SPACES – CHALLENGES FOR SECURITY AND PRIVACY

Radi Romansky, Irina Noninska

Abstract

The paper deals with challenges that the contemporary digital technologies should bear in mind to ensure security and privacy for the users creating their personal profiles and processing their personal data. A survey of related works is made based on the references and several important challenges for privacy have been pointed out. The purpose of the article is to determine the main procedures concerning secure access to different information resources and to propose formal descriptions of the processes at wide spread environments used in the digital space.
THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DATABASE SERVICE FOR REAL-TIME MEDICATION

MONITORING SYSTEM

Ventsislav Venkov, Rosen Ivanov

Abstract

This article presents the design and implementation of a Web service for assistance in process of medication prescription. The service is a part of a Real-Time Medication Monitoring (RTMM) system. Some of the most important errors in the process of medication intake occur in the process of medication prescription. This is the reason to focus on research and analysis of this process, and develop a service that helps medical staff to prescribe more precise medication therapies. One of the most important information about medication prescription is the reactions between different drugs. These reactions can be positive or negative, and the main objective of this research is to limit the negative reactions and increase the positive ones. The Web service is implemented using RESTful Java servlets and NoSQL database deployed on the Google’s public cloud infrastructure. The experimental results show that the developed service can be a useful assistant of doctors when they prescribing medication therapies.

A POST-GENETIC-CULTURAL HUMAN PERSPECTIVE

ON TERRORISM VERSUS HARMONY.

A COGNITIVE AND COMMUNICATIVE VIEW

I. Muylle, F. Vandamme

Abstract

Starting with an introduction concerning the Love versus Harmony Metaphor use in approaching Terrorism, the Harmony Metaphor is elaborated. This elaboration starts with an attempt to a formal definition of Harmony. In this framework, a lot of traditional epistemological, ontological and socio-political definitions or approaches to “Harmony” are generated, as well as a series of scales of Harmony. Attention is moreover paid to conflict resolution between different types of Harmony and the challenges of terrorism in these.

BOOK REVIEW

“Emergent Literacy and Educational Strategies Fostering the Children's Intuitive Process in Action”, (2017). Papers in honor of Marc Spoelders, Z. De Koninck (Ed.), Scientia Paedagogica Experimentalis, Vol. 54 (1-2), 234 p.
A lot is moving in the field of literacy in children. Finally we have a reader that gives a good insight into the current state of affairs and the results of research in this domain. It is not surprising that this work has been written following a TRIBUTE BOOK to MARC SPOELDERS. His scientific and academic professorial career he has dedicated to the development of educational strategies in an applied perspective. He had particular attention for the spontaneous intuitive action processes of the children themselves. These processes he used in his educative strategies and took as the basis for his work. One of the main areas of his work was also the emergence of literacy in children. Today we see more and more the re-emersion of applied pedagogy, at a time when it is so necessary. This publication illustrates the rehabilitation of applied pedagogy. Zita De Koninck, professor at the University of Laval in Québec, has the merit of having selected and encouraged very carefully relevant and stimulating contributions with an innovative perspective on the emergence of literacy in children.
This HOMAGE BOOK includes cartoons by Lise Vanlerberghe which are based on Marc Spoelders’ popular statements to the point.
