HbA1c

The term HbA1c refers to "glycated haemoglobin" which develops when hemoglobin, a protein within red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body, binds to glucose in the blood and becomes "glycated". By measuring the amount of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) in the blood, the average level of blood sugar over several weeks/months can be deduced.
