Anosmia
Anosmia is the medic term for the (complete) loss of the sense of smell, as a result of which a person can no longer smell odours. It can be temporary (for example, after an infection such as COVID-19) or permanent. There are forms in which only certain odors disappear (selective anosmia). It is the opposite of "hyposmia" (reduced smell) and can have a major impact on taste perception and warning of dangers. |
