Abstract
In the article we describe the outcomes of our research the aim of which was to gauge the opinions of educators in Croatia on tattooed teachers, as well as the opinions of the pupils’ parents. The sample consisted of 1259 respondents. The research showed that 82.0% of respondents had no tattoos, however 8.7% of the respondents considered getting one soon. 61.9% claimed that they didn’t mind tattooed teachers. Out of 440 questioned parents, a share of 69.91% was fine with their children being taught by people with visible tattoos. Almost three quarters of those parents did not agree that teachers should keep a ‘neutral image’ and tattoos should not be excluded. The produced data indicates that if a teacher is competent and professional, there are no body modifications that can dispute it. In addition, people appreciate values and knowledge; equality and the way the teaching process is carried out. It is of utter importance that we as teachers should be equipped with empathy and emotional stability, which definitely constitute the requirements for a good teacher.
