16 Peter Thiel: conflict as an engine against stagnation
After all, there is indeed a clear line with Thiel: He believes that the West is in technological stagnation. In recent interpretations, his thinking is described as: peace/global order can stifle innovation. Conflict/rivalry can break open and speed up systems. Some analyses go even further, stating that he sees conflict and "state of emergency" almost as productive forces in technological and geopolitical development. So "stagnation is worse than conflict" is pretty close to how Thiel is often interpreted, though it's not a literal quote.
