A world view based on the Darwinian vision on progress can also be deeply limiting., because it concentrates on our characteristics rather than on our lives, and focuses on adjusting ourselves rather than the world in which we live. These limitations are particular telling in the contemporary world , given the prevalence of remediable deprivations, such as poverty, unemployment, destitution, famine and epidemics as well as environmental decay threatened extinction of species, persistent brutality to animals and the generally miserable living conditions of much of humanity.
