The leaders of the intellectual traditions of European Enlightenment not only drew on the Renaissance.., but also absorbed the influence of Chinese science and engineering , Indian and Arabic mathematics and other contributions from across the world. The European Enlightenment was staking a claim on behalf of the intellect of humanity, not as a partisan of a narrow European point of view.
