Passive movement
6 Neurological stimulation and proprioception
Even if the patient does not perform the movement himself, the brain does receive signals about the position of the body in space (proprioception). It keeps the neurological "map" of the body part active in the brain. This is important in stroke (CVA) patients, because it prepares the brain for the moment when the patient can move on their own again.
