Abstract
The article examines the main areas of using artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching foreign languages in higher education institutions. The purpose of the article is to study the peculiarities of implementing artificial intelligence for assessing learning outcomes using the test method in English language classes. The study was based on various works of scholars on the use of artificial intelligence in foreign language teaching; statistical data from information and analytical agencies, including Statista, Newsdle, EC English Blog, Aiprm, as well as the results of interaction with the ChatGPT. The purpose of the study was achieved by using various methods, such as systematization, methods of economic and statistical analysis, methods of schematic and graphical display of data, and the method of logical generalization of results. The study found that the introduction of artificial intelligence tools in education is actively growing, in particular among students who use these technologies to complete assignments around the world. The growing role of artificial intelligence in the educational process is also supported by statistics that demonstrate a high level of technology integration into teaching practice, with 60% of teachers already using this innovative tool to The Use of AI in Assessing Stude nts’ English Language Skills 265 improve learning. Educational games, adaptive platforms, and automated assessment systems were named the most popular AI tools. The study also confirmed that artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, are effective in creating adapted English language tests that correspond to different levels of students’ proficiency.
